Basic Info Bio| Everything you ever wanted to know about LadyLovelace but were afraid to ask: Q: So, are you gonna tell us your real name? A: Yeah, it's Cecilia, you can call me that if you like. Q: Why the pseudonym then? A: It comes from my Year 12 Philosophy class, if you've ever studied artificial intelligence, you've probably come across something called "Lady Lovelace's objection" which deals with how language relates to actual intelligence. Since language is so important to me, it seemed like a fitting name. Or, you could just call me Linda (ten points for getting that one). I use this name everywhere, I like to think of it as brand synergy. Of course, what I like to think does not necessarily have any relationship with reality. Q: What the hell are you doing here? A: I have no idea, really. Mostly, I'm participating in whatever fandom has my attention at the moment. Otherwise, the occasional post about real life or other things which catch my woefully inadequate attention turns up here too. Q: So, what is it that you do in the real world? A: I'm a student. An Arts student, at that. I'm studying history, philosophy and literature, plus taking a unit in education, which will make me a fully qualified secondary teacher, in about three and a half years. Before you ask, no, I don't particularly like children. I will probably spend my whole life in various universities. What I really want to be is a writer. Q: So, where do your interests lie? A: I'm so glad you asked. Literature, history and philosophy head up my list of interests. I am also fascinated by language and it's usage, though the only one I speak with any competency is English. I don't think this is a bad thing, though, because the English language is so rich and versatile and changeable that if you really know how to use it, you can express anything. It might not sound as pretty as French or Italian (or even Welsh, which I love to hear spoken.) but it does have a much greater scope and no-one bats an eyelid if you throw a word from some other language into English speech. I could go on about it all day, but I wont. Otherwise, I am a naturally fannish person, and one of the world's biggest anglophiles (which I promise is not a dirty word). I am very easily obsessed and I tend to carry obsessions forever. I am a big fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, but for the most part don't like anything too serious. Which is to say, I like the original series of Star Trek more than, say, Enterprise. I could list everything which interest me, but I would like to accomplish something in my lifetime, and therefore do not have the time to do that. Short answer: I like many things, and I have an opinion on almost everything. Q: How do you imagine other people see you, and do they get an accurate picture? A: I'm quite sure people think of me as a sarcastic, rude, odd little know-it-all new-ager of an indetermined sexuality. For the most part, they're spot on, but they forgot to add over-dramatic smartarse obsessive-compulsive loud-mouthed bitch with no respect for their authority/position/feeling of entitlement. That all sounds really bad, but even though I am not a conventionally "nice" person, I am quite tolerant of people who display a modicum of intelligence, even if they don't *agree* with me, and I am unfailingly helpful wherever I can be. I resent the new-ager bit, though. You don't see me spelling my name with four "y"s and an "x", do you? The herbal remedies, scented candles and long skirts don't make me some teenager going through a phase, thankyouverymuch. Taking Prozac, reeking of the latest celebrity perfume and wearing clothes which I had to shoehorn myself into (not that I don't ever do that, mind, but corsets are different, so sayeth I) hold no particular charm for me. The indetermined sexuality bit doesn't hold water either. I'm *omnisexual*, as far as anything humanoid goes, elves, aliens, anthropomorphic cats, boys, girls, and people who are entirely androgynous are all fair game, to my mind. I do appear, though, to those who know me, to prefer those of a more masculine persuasion. But I'm cool with whatever you're into, too. Q: Anything else you'd like to add? A: Oh, there are many, many things I could tell you, but I'm told I overshare and that it makes people uncomfortable. Oh, but I have a chihuahua called Nirvana, just in case you saw the name mentioned and couldn't figure out what the hell I was talking about. And now you know everything you never wanted to know :D.
